As a Senior Research Assistant at Empirical Education, Mayah’s main work consists of supporting the evaluation of two projects: the CREATE Teacher in Residency Program and the How Are the Children (HATC) curriculum. The CREATE project focuses on expanding equity in education by developing critically conscious, compassionate, and skilled educators in Atlanta Public Schools. The HATC project is currently being implemented in Rock Island, Illinois, and it uses project-based learning and documentaries to engage students in a social-emotional learning (SEL) curriculum. Mayah is a graduate of Mercer University where she majored in International Affairs and minored in Spanish. While at Mercer, Mayah was able to take advantage of several research opportunities to explore economics, politics, and international policy. Currently, Mayah is based in the metro-Atlanta area.
