Zahava Nickell is a senior research assistant who supports the independent evaluation of the CREATE teacher residency program and WestEd’s Educative English Language Arts Curriculum Materials and Professional Development. She has an M.A. in Special Education from San Francisco State University, with a focus on Early Childhood Special Education. Her thesis examined how service providers can best support families experiencing parental substance misuse, which was inspired by her previous employment experience working as a parenting counselor and infant teacher at a residential treatment center. She obtained her B.S. in psychological sciences from the Metropolitan State University of Denver, where she conducted an independent project on how personality relates to music ensemble membership. Zahava's broad research experience includes yoga therapy, women’s behavioral therapy, personality, education, and family partnership. She is currently based in the Denver area.
